A reverse search of images from the mobile with this website
The problem? That you can only access the reverse search from your computer, in the mobile version of Google is not available, but there is a solution.
Not everyone is aware of a type of search offered by Google in its search engine, ie the reverse one. We are talking about the research that is carried out starting from an image and that returns us as results the sites in which this appears, allowing us also to know details about the contents, such as the name of a face present in it, or alternatively provide us with images similar.
Unfortunately, this feature is inaccessible from a smartphone, even using the Chrome browser and requiring desktop mode. All that the famous search engine allows us to do from Chrome for iOS and Android is to long-press on an image found in the search results to use it to retrieve others that resemble the original.
How to do it?
Google’s search box is, in all likelihood, one of the tools that we will use the most times throughout our lives. Beyond text searches with keywords, Google offers you in its search engine a whole world of possibilities – from checking the speed of our internet connection to comparing the best flight rates -, as we saw recently. But another of the most useful features of the Google search engine, and relatively unknown to many users, is image search.
What is called reverse search is simply to use an image to search for another image or text. What is it for? Thanks to this type of search, we can know, for example, if that photo just posted by one of our Contacts on Twitter or Facebook really corresponds to the event he says, if it is a modified version and where we can find the original source. We can also expand information about a place, get that same larger image, and discover what famous person it is or where is that spectacular terrace overlooking the ocean.
Reverse search from PC
To search with images from your PC, you must open Google Images in your browser (image search is available in Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox), and click on the camera icon inside the search box. Google offers you different options to perform the reverse search:
- Drag the image to the search box.
- Copy and paste the image URL (if you found it by browsing the internet).
- Upload an image from your device.
- Right-click on an image and select “Search Google Image”.
From the phone
Although the reverse search is not directly accessible in the mobile version of Google, you can also easily search for images from your smartphone or tablet. We explain how:
- Open Google Images in the Google Chrome browser.
- In the address bar, click on the three dots.
- Select the “Request PC site” or “Website for computers” option.
- You can now use an image search just as if you were on your computer.
When searching for images from your mobile phone, you must take into account, of course, two limitations: the PC website version will show you everything smaller (you will have to expand manually) and the option to drag the image to the box Search is designed for computers, so you’ll have to settle for pasting the URL or selecting the image of the ones you have stored in your gallery.
